Wayne "BoBo" Forte

Wayne “BoBo” Forte, Age 72, of Bethera, SC passed away at his residence on March 25, 2022.   Wayne was born December 12, 1949, at Fort Belvoir, VA, to Bobby G. Forte and Ithene “Tena” Hood Forte Easterling.

Wayne retired from Berkeley County Government with 28 years of service and worked at Falcon Children’s Home in NC for 7 years.  He was a graduate of Macedonia High School, where he was class President, lettered in 3 sports, and drove a school bus for 2 years. He enjoyed 20+ years officiating various sports in Moncks Corner, Charleston, SCISA, and Raleigh NC.  He was involved in coaching and officiating Little League youth sports in Moncks Corner and coordinated the softball and baseball games for the famous “Hell Hole Swamp” festival for many years.  He was a lifelong, enthusiastic fan and supporter of the Clemson Tigers through IPTAY for over 50 years, and enjoyed hunting, camping, shrimping, and playing softball.  He was a media member and supporter of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and Hickory Grove IPHC.

In 1985, he was appointed Berkeley County Assessor by the late Senator Rembert C. Dennis.  During his time as assessor, he served as President of the SC Association of Assessing Officials and obtained his SC Residential Appraisal License.  He worked for several years as Berkeley County Safety Manager.

He is survived by his wife, June Brown Forte, a son, Sean Forte (Jaime), a daughter, Brandee Forte Gibson (Carl), his mother of Moncks Corner, a brother, David Forte of Oxford, NC, and a sister, Debra Forte-Ford of Moncks Corner.  He is also survived by nephews Dewey Ford, Ryan Ford, Troy Forte, Josh Forte, and nieces Jennifer Forte, Mallory Forte Nickerson, Amy Forte, Amber Ford Neville, his good friends Gunner and Dixie, and his beloved dog Gabe.  He was predeceased in death by his father, Bobby G. Forte, and a brother, Gene M. Forte, his grandparents, Harry and Minnie Hood and Allen and Elma H. Forte, his dog Toby, and his cat, Tigee.

His memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 12 o'clock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 o'clock until the hour of service.
