Orvin Hugh Legette, Jr.

 Orvin Hugh Legette, “JR.”, 77, of Moncks Corner, husband of Priscilla “Diane” Craven Legette passed away Saturday September 4, 2021.

JR was born April 30, 1944 in Mineral Wells, Texas the son of Orvin Hugh Legette, Sr. and Annie Pearl Brown Legette.

A loving husband, JR and Diane were married for 22 years. He was an automotive shop owner for over 50 years in the Lowcountry and loved serving his customers. He was a racing enthusiast who spent many years racing cars at Summerville Speedway and boats in Charleston and Berkeley County. “Daddy-O”, as affectionately known, truly had a love for going fast!

JR was a Mason of the 32nd Degree, a Shriner and served in the National Guard. He was a member of Old Fort Lodge #420 in Summerville, SC.

In addition to his wife, Diane, JR is survived by a brother- Michael Legette; his children- Sonny Legette, Chuck Legette, Billy Castine, Lisa Castine and Stephanie Legette Bogart; step daughters- Tracie Wilkins Duncan and Lorie Wilkins Trowbridge; grandchildren- Remington Duncan, Dakota Duncan, Bella Bradford, Ava Trowbridge, Ty Trowbridge, Caleb Craven, Loralei Legette and Lilianna Legette; a number of nephews, nieces and extended family. JR is predeceased by three brothers- Tony Legette, Hommer Legette and Jimmy Legette and a sister- Doris Legette Strickland.

His memorial service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel in Moncks Corner, SC, Friday afternoon September 17, 2021 at 5 o’clock. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 4 o’clock until the hour of service. The family asks that masks be worn for the safety of all.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to MUSC Children’s Hospital, 59 Bee Street, MSC 201, Charleston SC 29425 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
