Judith (Lyles) Glover

Judith Lyles Glover, 83, of Moncks Corner, wife of 61 years to Charles Edgar Glover, Jr., passed away September 1, 2022.

Judy was born July 22, 1939, in Winnsboro, the daughter of James “JD” Davis Lyles and Estelle Castles Lyles.

Judy attended Greenbrier High School where she played basketball and was the recipient of a trip to Chicago for her work in 4H. A 1961 graduate of Columbia College, Judy began her career as a County Extension Agent in 1961 and has worked in Laurens, Union, Colleton, and Berkeley counties and found time in between to work with York Electric Co-Op, and with Glover Nursery/Day Care. Judy was the acting Director of Clemson Extension Service in Berkeley County when she retired in 1995 and was active in the Berkeley County American Legion Auxiliary, Natural Resources Conservation Auxiliary, and Moncks Corner United Methodist Church.

An avid Clemson fan, she loved working in her garden and flower beds, following grands to ballgames, sewing, ceramics, and cooking for her church family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons- Charles “Ed” Glover, III and his wife, Heather, and James “Lee” Glover and his wife, Lori of Moncks Corner; five grandchildren- Braden, Brock, Hope, Matthew, and Jacob; brother- James F. Lyles of Richmond, VA.  She is predeceased by her grandchildren- Maggie and Faith Glover, sisters- Betty Knight and Mildred Gustafson, and brother- Carl Grady Lyles.

Her funeral service will be held at Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, Monday morning, September 5, 2022, at 11 o’clock, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenbrier United Methodist Church Cemetery on Tuesday morning, September 6, 2022, at 11 o’clock. The family will receive friends at Moncks Corner UMC between 5 and 7 o’clock on Sunday evening.
