Gwendolyn (Kizer) Lewis

Gwendolyn Kizer Lewis, 85, of Pinopolis, wife of the late Wilson Reeves Lewis Sr., passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

Gwen was born September 13, 1936, in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, a daughter of Walter Perry Kizer and Essie Harvey Kizer.

Mrs. Gwen had been a teacher in Berkeley County for over 20 years. She continued serving as a volunteer at Berkeley Elementary School, Friends of the Berkeley County Library and at Mepkin Abbey. Gwen had remained an active member of the Moncks Corner United Methodist Church where she was in the choir, member of the Wesley Sunday School class, a youth leader, the Bobo Circle, taught Sunday School and a Salkehatchie volunteer. She was a member of the Pinopolis Book Club and D.A.R. Also, she loved working in her yard.

Surviving are her daughter- Anne Marie Tracy and her husband, Damon of Pinopolis; son- Wilson (Will) Reeves Lewis Jr. and his wife, Karen of Hanahan; a sister- Patricia Davis and her husband, Marion of Sumter; 4 grandchildren- Alex Tracy and her husband, Ebbie; Taylor Tracy; Chatham Lane and Kyler Lane; son-in-law- Joseph (Jay) Guerry. She was predeceased by her husband and daughter Laura Lyn Lewis Guerry.

Her funeral service will be held at Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, Saturday morning, November 27, 2021 at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery in Pinopolis, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at the Moncks Corner United Methodist Church for 1 hour prior, from 10 o’clock to 11 o’clock on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
