Obituary

George Franklin Varner, the husband of Estelle Butcher Varner and a Lebanon Community resident for 85 years and 51 weeks, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of January 14, 2023.

Franklin was born January 20, 1937, in Berkeley County, a son of Royal Varner and Mary Barrett Varner. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later in life he loved feeding and watching his birds and squirrels. He was formerly employed by Mead Westvaco and retired after 41.5 years. He loved his family and he will be greatly missed.

 He is survived by his wife, two sons-Michael F. Varner (Michelle) of Simpsonville, SC and Jeffrey R. Varner of Lebanon Community, SC; one daughter- Sharon L. Varner (Chris Havens) of Moncks Corner, SC; four grandchildren- Jessica L. Howard,  Cody LaChance, Audrey R. Varner, and Anna E. Varner; a brother- Royal W. Varner and a sister- Jeanette V. Hoenck.

Franklin’s graveside service will be on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 1:00 pm in Rudd Branch Cemetery, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel.
