David Edward Wirtz, 74, of St. George, SC, was born December 8, 1948, in McDonald, PA, and entered his eternal home Friday, July 7, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Earl Sr. and Mary Blissell Wirtz, and one brother John Earl Wirtz Jr. He is survived by his wife Sharon (Moore) Wirtz and five siblings- Sarah (Jerry) Mullins, of McDonald, PA, James (Ruth) Wirtz, of Moon Township, PA, Katherine (George) Dranikoski, of Canonsburg, PA, Rose Wirtz (Linda Fuller), of Grafton, WV, and Mary Jo (Weldon) Poling, of Columbus, NC; sister-in-law Linda Wirtz; and a host of nieces and nephews.
David served his country in the US Navy serving aboard ships like the Kennedy and Forrestal. He was an avid Hamm Operator, beginning his love for it in the mid-1970s. His evenings with Hamm routine was keying up and talking with the Hole in the Wall Gang. He and Sharon enjoyed going to swap meets. David owned the Speedee Oil Change on Savannah Highway for a number of years. He was a certified mechanic and later in his career a service advisor, specializing in all things technical with a car or truck. David also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and received numerous awards for Best in Class, Tricked Out, and Overall for the Voyager Gold Wing Club. When COVID hit, David and Sharon opted to make their home a little piece of paradise, but most of all, they cherished each other and made each other very happy.

His memorial service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening, July 27, 2023, at 5 o'clock. A reception will immediately follow the service.
