Clayton "Wink" Edward Winklepleck

Clayton "Wink" Edward Winklepleck passed away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 81 in North Charleston, SC with his loving wife Severina Winklepleck by his side. Clayton is survived by his daughter, Rita Snell and her finance, Johnson “J.B.” Freeman of Holly Hill, six grandchildren (Stacey Franks, Amanda Roman, Ryan Snell, Darlene Nailing, Andrew Gregory and Brandon Gregory), nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law, R.B. Mixson and his wife, Bernice of Moncks Corner, two sisters-in-law, Teena Mixson and Arla Winklepleck, and special friend, Christopher Fitzpatrick. Clayton was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Mixson Winklepleck, a daughter, Donna W. Phipps, a son, Kenneth E. Winklepleck, one sister and three brothers.

 Mr. Winklepleck was a US Air Force veteran as well as a sheet metal worker at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, the owner and operator of a van conversion company, Performance Vans of America, and later in years enjoyed working as an appliance repairman. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Clayton’s greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He loved being an active member of New Covenant Church, taking trips to Dukes for his all-time favorite BBQ, spending time with his beloved dog, Boli, and rooting for the Gamecocks and his favorite Nascar drivers. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and his church family.

His funeral service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Russel Funeral Chapel from 1 o’clock until the hour of service
