Carol was born January 20, 1944 in Pontiac, Michigan, a daughter of Olen Joseph Claire and Vivian Gorton Claire.  Carol grew up in Homestead, Florida and graduated from South Dade High School in 1961.  She graduated from Florida State University in 1965 and married Jayson (Jay) Jordan in Homestead, Florida on August 12, 1966. She spent the latter half of her life in South Carolina where she and her husband of 52 years raised their family.

Lifelong hobbies included cooking, sewing, reading and watching movies. In later years, she worked for Berkeley County School District as a substitute teacher, and as a teacher’s aide for students with special needs.

Jordan and his wife, Alana, of Columbia, SC; one brother - Earl J. Claire and his wife, Sally, of Lake Placid, FL; and six granddaughters - Jordan McCayla Metts, Victoria Rose Metts, Anna Isabella Hogue, Macy Grace Hogue, Nina Claire Jordan and Nola Jane Jordan; she was predeceased by one sister- Sandra C.
