Shirley Tylee Hopper, 71, of Moncks Corner, wife of Howard Lamar Hopper, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Shirley was born on August 2, 1950, in St. Stephen, South Carolina, daughter of Nathaniel Tylee and Marguerite Cofer Tylee.
Upon graduating from St. Stephen High School, class of 1968, Shirley attended Winthrop University and later graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from Limestone College. An accountant for DFAS, she retired after 25 years of employment. Mrs. Hopper was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of First Baptist Church of St. Stephen until she transferred in 1994 to First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner where she faithfully served in the choir for many years. Among other things, she enjoyed going on weekly outings with her Sunday School class, trips to the beach, tending to her flower garden, and most of all spending time with her beloved family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter- Marla H. Shipley and her husband, Brian of Bonneau Beach; a son- Nat Hopper and his wife, Erin of Hollywood; a sister- Bettye T. Shealy and her husband, David of St Stephen; a nephew- Jonathan Shealy and his wife, Charmaine of Summerville; two grandchildren- Joshua Shipley and Brianne Shipley; two step-grandchildren- Findlay Henderson and Sarah Beth Henderson. She is predeceased by her parents, Nathaniel Tylee and Marguerite Cofer Tylee.
Her memorial service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL of Moncks Corner, Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2022, at 3 o’clock.
