Samuel (Mac) Sylvester McGlamery, 83, of Jamestown, South Carolina, passed away at home on July 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 07, 1942 in Albany, Georgia. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mac was dedicated and hard-working. He spent 27 years serving our Navy as a Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate. During his military career, he had multiple professional achievements. He was a Master Training Specialist, and served as one of the Top Recruiters in the Recruiting District of Jacksonville. He received honors such as, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Second Gold Wreath Award for Excellence in Recruiting, and the Good Conduct Award. He was also a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Secretary Treasurer at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church for a number of years. Despite his many responsibilities and professional accomplishments, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Though Mac may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of honor, integrity, kindness, generosity and chivalry. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Mac's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the yard.
Mac is survived by his wife, Esther McGlamery, four children, Teresa Williams (Summerville, SC), Denise Fletcher (Jamestown, SC), Steve Brown (Sharon Brown) (Ocala, Florida), Catherine Durgin (Butch Durgin) (Jamestown, SC) and one sister, Charlotte Craig (Charles Craig) (Maceo, Kentucky). He has nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
