Ronnie Gene Mims, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, in the same Berkeley County where he was born on December 9, 1948. As a proud veteran and the respected former owner of Berkeley Prosthetic Laboratory, Ronnie dedicated his life to serving both his country and community.
He was the son of Jim and Alice Hardy Mims, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brother, Danny Mims. Ronnie's legacy of love and steadfastness lives on through his devoted wife of 54 years, Karen Ailstock Mims; their daughter, Lisa Riedel, and her husband, Herbert; and grandsons, Frederick Riedel with his wife Samantha, and Matthew Riedel and Olivia Calloway; brother, Marvin Mims, along with his wife Esther.
An artisan at heart, Ronnie found serenity in woodworking, creating pieces that reflected the sophistication of his craft. His kinship with the land was equally evident in his farming endeavors and his passion for fishing. Ronnie's love and respect for nature included walking among the wildlife, feeding the friendly faces of deer, turkeys, ducks, and geese that graced his property.
Ronnie's memory will forever be a testament to a life well-lived and a heart generously shared with all who knew him.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
