Reginald “Reg” Dunston, born June 26, 1937 in Alton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026 in Summerville, South Carolina, at the age of 89. Reginald lived a rich and full life, leaving behind a legacy of family, craftsmanship, service, and steadfast faith.

Reginald dedicated his professional life to excellence and problem-solving as a mechanical engineer. Over the course of his distinguished career, he retired from Mallory and Evans Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. Known for his keen mind and practical skills, many marveled at his ability to fix anything, a talent that served friends, family, and co-workers alike.

Outside of his career, Reginald was a man of abundant interests. He especially cherished traveling in his RV, with trips to the mountains always holding a special place in his heart. Whether exploring the scenic beauty of nature, attending car shows, or delving into crossword puzzles and sudoku, Reg found joy in discovery and detail. He was an avid reader and loved sharing fascinating facts and stories with those around him. Reg’s devotion extended to his beloved cats, whose companionship he treasured.

His faith was the foundation of his life. Reginald was a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon. His love of the Lord guided his actions and shaped his outlook. He supported Changed Lives Ministries and found meaning in helping others and lifting his community. When residing in Georgia, Reg was also a proud member of the Christian Motorcyclists, reflecting his adventurous spirit paired with deep convictions.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Kay Guerry Dunston; his sons, Reginald Dunston II (and daughter-in-law Charlene), Glenn Dunston (and daughter-in-law Molly), and step-sons, Quentin Cook and Tyrone Norton (and daughter-in-law April); his step-daughter, Marie Weatherford (and son-in-law Allen); his brother, Mike Dunston (and wife Sandy); and his sister, Emelda Galarneau; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grands. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Glendora Dunston and Mary Hughes Dunston, his son Gary Norton, his brother-in-law Paul Galarneau, and his daughter-in-law Michelle Cook..

A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Following visitation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at noon at the same location. Interment will take place in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family asks that memorials be made to: Providence Baptist Church, 2069 N. Hwy 17-A, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

Reginald’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Blake at Carnes, Empyrean Hospice, Active Day Adult Day Care, caregivers Lillie Middleton and Albertha Smith, and Dr. David Rodgers and staff, for their compassionate care and support during his final journey.

Reginald Dunston’s life was marked by a generous spirit, an unwavering faith, and a love for family and service. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who carry his legacy forward.
