Paul was born, March 14, 1973, in Columbia, South Carolina, a son of Daniel R. Smith and Carolyn Fanning Smith.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two brothers-Daniel R. Smith and James N. W. Smith; a niece- Kaitlyn Smith.
