Ola Mae Wilcox

Mrs. Ola Mae Wilcox, 84, died Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Hospice House Satilla in Waycross, GA following an extended illness.

She was born in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Johnnie Bennett Owens and Leola Gibbs Owens and was a graduate of Glynn Academy. She lived most of her life in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, where she was a homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper for a number of years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, where she faithfully taught Sunday School for more than 40 years. She also devoted countless hours as the costume seamstress for the church's annual Easter Passion Play, using her talent and creativity to help bring the production to life. After moving to Waycross in 2019, she became a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth, where she served as Past Grand Royal Matron. She also served as Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Wilcox, and two brothers, Jefferson Davis Gibbs and William A. Owens.

She is survived by four children, William A. Wilcox of Waycross, Georgia, Earl John Wilcox (Margaret) of Ridgeville, South Carolina, Marguerite Kirby (Mike) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina and Linda K. Wilcox of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Sarah Nieto (Spencer), Alex D. Wilcox (Dr. Chandler), Christopher Kirby, Catherine Kirby, Andrew Murray (Hope), Katie Pickett, and Morgan Wilson; eight great-grandchildren; and special friends, Kris Johnson (Jack) of Murrells Inlet, SC and Jean Holland of Moncks Corner, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Russell Funeral Chapel in Moncks Corner, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation or Shriners Children's Hospital in Mrs. Wilcox's memory.
