Mike Avrin Floyd, known fondly as Mike to all who knew him, passed away at the age of 64 in Moncks Corner, S.C., on November 11, 2024. Born on February 5, 1960, in Ft. Benning, Ga., to Avrin Marvin Floyd and Gisela Elizabeth Moller Floyd.
Throughout his 40 years at Home Telephone, Mike was more than just an employee; he was an integral part of the company community, forming lasting friendships and leaving a legacy of dedication. His passion for sports was evident to all—lettering in tennis at Berkeley High School, enjoying friendly competition on the golf course, and relishing his time on the softball field.
But beyond his professional accomplishments and athletic hobbies, Mike's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda McDougal Floyd; his son, Caison Floyd, and his wife Tiffany; and his cherished grandson, Dawson Floyd. He leaves behind his brother, Thomas Floyd, and his wife Lisa; sisters, Diana Floyd Murphy ( Danny Inabinett) and Michelle F. Pawenski, and her husband Chris; as well as his aunts, Ruth Ott and her husband Billy, and Ann Mack ( Eric Stevens). His nephews, John, Jason, Stephen, Brayden, and Collin, and niece, Danielle. Mike was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Camilla Anne Floyd.
A devoted fan of college football, Mike bled garnet and black for his beloved Carolina Gamecocks. Amidst all his interests, it was the quiet moments spent with his family that Mike treasured the most. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his loved ones will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike Avrin Floyd lived a life full of joy and leaves behind an indelible mark on this world.
