Margie Lee Barnes

Margie Lee Chance Barnes, widow of Norval A. Barnes, passed away peacefully at her home on February 1, 2026, at the age of 75. She was born on June 17, 1950, in Moncks Corner, a daughter of Horace(Bill) and Evelyn Wyndham Chance.

Margie enjoyed a varied career, including positions at Reliable Electric and William Heller. She took great pleasure in teaching water aerobics for seniors at the YMCA, where her engaging personality and caring nature positively impacted many lives. Margie was known not only for her professional endeavors but also for her involvement in her church, being an active member of the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she built lasting relationships within the congregation. Margie found joy in her hobbies, which included sewing, crafts, and traveling with her husband. She cherished every moment spent with her family, creating memories that will be profoundly missed by those who loved her dearly.

Margie is survived by her daughter Patricia Barnes Wingate and her husband Dale; son William (Bill) Norval Barnes; grandchildren Chelsea, Summer, Tiffany, Brooke and Callie Wingate and Abigail, Sam, and Mackenzie Barnes; and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters Sharon Dupree and her husband Jackie, and Gail Reed and brother Jimmy Chance, alongside her special niece and nephew, Desmond and Elaine Miller. Margie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Norval A. Barnes; her parents Horace (Bill) and Evelyn Wyndham Chance; and her sisters Gertrude Bryant and Jackie Murdoch.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Russell Funeral Chapel in Moncks Corner. A funeral service will follow on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.
