Hanahan

Kenneth Ray Ford, known affectionately as Ken to his loved ones, was called to his eternal home on December 11, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 15, 1934, in Council Bluffs, IA, Ken lived a life characterized by faith, wisdom, and generosity. He passed away peacefully in Hanahan, SC, surrounded by the family he cherished deeply.

Ken's early life in Iowa laid the foundation for a man of integrity and purpose. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska - Omaha, he went on to lead a life of service and leadership. Ken's professional journey was marked by his tenure as the Past President of Santee Cooper, where he was respected for his visionary leadership and his unwavering commitment to excellence. Ken proudly served for many years on the Board of Trident Technical College as well as the Trident United Way Board.

A devout Christian, Ken's faith was the cornerstone of his existence. His life was a living testament to the values he held dear. Ken's love for the Lord was evident in his daily walk, and his desire to live a life pleasing to God was fulfilled through his actions and words.

Ken's passion for Iowa football and basketball was more than a pastime; it was a thread that wove through the fabric of his life, bringing joy and camaraderie. His enthusiasm for his teams was infectious, and many fond memories were created cheering them on surrounded by family and friends.

Family was Ken's greatest pride and joy. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara Ford, and a loving father to their children. Together with his sons and their wives, Steve and Sue, Scott and Kim, and his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Kevin Alford, Ken built a legacy of love and kinship. His role as a grandfather to Marisa Springman (husband Derek), Taylor Ford (wife Chelsea), Cameron Ismail (wife Sarah), Seth Ismail (fiancé Emily), Rebekah Ford (partner Patrick) and Saige McCue along with five great grandchildren was one he embraced with all his heart. The wisdom he imparted and the stories he shared will continue to guide and inspire his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren for generations to come. Ken was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jana and Sara Ford.

Described as faith-filled, wise, and generous, Ken's character was the embodiment of a life well-lived. He was a mentor to many, offering sound advice and thoughtful guidance. Ken's generosity knew no bounds, and he often gave of his time and resources without a second thought, always seeking to uplift those around him. Ken’s sense of humor and quick wit were often on display, as well.

As we reflect on Ken's life, we are reminded of the impact one individual can have on the world. His legacy of faith, love, and service will live on through those who had the privilege of knowing him. Ken's journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched.

We take comfort in the knowledge that Ken is now in the presence of his Savior, resting in the peace that surpasses all understanding. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the life he lived and the unwavering hope he held in Christ. Ken Ford will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew him
