Kenneth "Ken" Deese, 66, of Cross, S.C., passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024. Born on January 3, 1958, in Laurinburg, N.C., he was the beloved son of the late Neal Archie Deese and Mildred Bullard Deese. Ken dedicated over four decades of his life to serving his community as an EMT and firefighter, working within both Eadytown and Cross Fire Departments, a testament to his unwavering commitment to the safety and wellbeing of others.
A family man at heart, Ken is survived by his wife, Margaret Deese, and his children; Jeannie Ramos, Lawanna Mixon, and Steven Deese. His legacy lives on through his adored grandchildren, Breanna Deese, Chase Mixon, Pathe Mixon, Niko Deese, and Enzo Deese. Ken also leaves behind his brothers, Danny Deese and Neal Archie Deese Jr., and sister, Debra Allard.
Beyond his honorable service, Ken embraced the joys of the outdoors with a passion for hunting and fishing. His enthusiasm for youth sports was palpable, as he invested his time coaching baseball and football, touching many young lives through his involvement with the local recreation department. Ken's presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
