Joe R. Darnell, fondly known as Joe, passed away on July 24, 2024, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Born in the spring of 1937, on May 13th, in Marlinton, West Virginia, to parents George Washington Darnell and Carrie Elizabeth Bancroft Darnell.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, he served his country with honor. After his service, he continued to contribute to his community as a heavy equipment operator with Berkeley Electric Co-op, retiring after 29 years of steadfast work.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Vera Cales Darnell, and a host of nieces and nephews who will treasure his memory. Joe embodied a life of faith, devoting much time attending Pentecostal Holiness church, a passion that was reflected in his love for singing and his cherished hobby of writing poetry.
Joe's humor, faith, and selflessness were the cornerstones of his character, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed his path. Joe will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
