Harold Clifton Northum, known affectionately as Clif, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at his home in Overton Subdivision. He was born on September 8, 1935, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Harold Clifton Northum Sr. and Marguerite LePrince Northum.

Clif was a proud graduate of the Citadel, Class of 1957, and diligently carried the values he learned there throughout his life. He served his country with honor as a veteran of the US Army, demonstrating the commitment and resolve that would define both his professional and personal endeavors. Clif built a successful career as an electrical engineer, culminating in his retirement as a plant manager for Exxon, where he was respected for his expertise and dedication.

Beyond his professional achievements, Clif had a passion for the simple joys of life. He enjoyed working in his yard and took pleasure in traveling across North America with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Joan D. Colyar, and his daughter, Evelyn Marguerite Chapman, her husband Brent and two grandchildren.

Clif was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Frances Carol Baltz Northum, and two sisters, Marguerite Soubeyroux Ballam and Pierrine Dutton Foessel.

To honor Clif's life and memory, a memorial service will be held at 1 PM, on February 7, 2026, at Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Macbeth, South Carolina.
