Greeta Jean Burbage, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Born on April 25, 1948, in Florence, South Carolina, Greeta's life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a passionate spirit that touched all who knew her.
Throughout her career, Greeta demonstrated remarkable commitment and diligence, working in various manufacturing positions at notable companies including William Heller, Bosch, and Teepak. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and industrious professional whose contributions were invaluable to each organization she served. Beyond her professional life, Greeta was a devoted NASCAR enthusiast, and her admiration for Dale Earnhardt, her favorite driver, never wavered. One of her favorite pastimes was doing word search puzzles.
She is survived by her two devoted sons, Robert Gowder and his wife Jennifer, and Kenneth Gowder and his wife Lori, four grandchildren, Robert Gowder Jr. and his wife Erica, Gage Gowder, Cody Gowder and Trenton Gowder, and one great-grandchild, Paxton Gowder, all who brought her immense happiness. Greeta also shared a close bond with her brother, William J "Bubba" Ward Jr., and her sister, Gail Ward Stout, along with Gail’s husband Ernie. Her cherished feline companion, Gracie, was a constant source of comfort and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Ward Sr. and Nellie Roundtree Ward, and her sister, Gwen E. Kinard. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of all who loved her.
