Evelyn "A.J." (Powell) Mcswain

Evelyn “A.J.” Powell McSwain, 83, of Murrells Inlet, widow of Charles M. McSwain, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 in her home.

Evelyn was born in Andrews, South Carolina, a daughter of Minor Henry Powell and Louise Wilson Powell.

Mrs. McSwain was a retired Vice President of First National Bank in Charleston where she faithfully worked for 27 years. She enjoyed time spent tending to her flower garden, and delighted in feeding and watching the hummingbirds that visited her regularly. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all that knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons- Charles “Chris” McSwain and his wife, Jemmy Lea of Naples, Florida, and Gary McSwain and his wife, Sandra of Blue Ridge, Georgia; one grandchild- Hannah Grace McSwain; four sisters- Lib Rischer, Helen Dennis, Glenda Skipper and Brenda Lowder; three brothers- Chaistene Powell, Wallace Powell and T.D. Powell. She is predeceased by her brothers- Francis Powell, Earnest Powell and Benjamin Powell.

Her graveside funeral service will be at Carolina Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 12 o’clock, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL.
