David Anthony Hart, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 77. Born on November 11, 1947, in Springfield, Massachusetts, David lived a life marked by commitment, kindness, and an unwavering spirit.
David enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, retiring after many years with the family debt collection business. He was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his deep involvement in various community organizations. His proudest accomplishments include his involvement with the Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), the Lions Club, and the New England Collectors Association. David's service extended beyond these organizations; he brought joy and laughter to countless individuals by volunteering as a clown for the Knights of Columbus, affectionately known as the "#5 clown."
A veteran of the Army during the Vietnam Era, David exemplified dedication both in his service to his country and in his personal life. He was a devoted husband to Wendy Hughes Hart, sharing 51 beautiful years together, and a loving father to his children, Allisyn McCarthy and her husband Josh, and Michael Hart and his wife Jodie. David took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren: Tim, Matt, Anna, and Alex McCarthy, along with Bella, Blakelee, and Michael Hart II. His love for them was evident in the countless hours he devoted to their lives, always volunteering his time and sharing his passions. Also surviving are his brothers Marshall Hart Jr. and Bruce Hart and his wife Yvonne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall A. Hart and Eleanor McNabb Hart, and his brother, James Hart.
David’s interests included a variety of hobbies such as golf, swimming, and walking, which he often enjoyed with his family. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, capturing the hearts of those around him with his warm personality and genuine interest in others.
