Berniece Elaine Bown Ulmer, 98, of Moncks Corner, first married to the late James W. Younginer, widow of Dr. Carl Bailey and B.R. Ulmer passed away Sunday December 27, 2020.
Ms. Berniece was born February 24, 1922 in Grady County, Georgia, a daughter of Eugene "Jake" D. Bown and Cornelia Gene Cooper Bown.
Ms. Berniece was a graduate of Cairo High School and Moody Hospital School of Nursing. She spent some years working as a nurse for Dr. Robert “Bob” Solomon. She was a member of Moncks Corner United Methodist Church where she had participated in the Wide Awakers. Ms. Berniece was also a member of the Walterboro Garden Club. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are two sons- Kenneth James Younginer and his wife, Joan, of Summerville; William “Bill” Younginer and his wife, Darlene, of Wilmington, NC; two daughters- Katherine “Kay” Younginer of Pinopolis and Betty Y. Wessinger of Moncks Corner; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and all of her siblings, Ms. Berniece was predeceased by a son in law- Claud Wessinger.
A graveside service will be held in the Union Methodist Church Cemetery, 7582 Woodrow St., Irmo, South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon December 30, 2020 at 2 o’clock. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, 106 Church Street, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
