Ann Lewis Baker, 83, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on September 18, 2026.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Ann was the daughter of the late Cyrus W. Lewis and Bessie Page Lewis.
Ann dedicated many years of service as a teacher’s assistant for the Berkeley County School District. She had a passion for helping children learn to read and believed deeply in the importance of education.
A proud South Carolina state trooper’s wife, Ann also dedicated more than 30 years to creating a welcoming place where many could find a warm meal, a hot cup of coffee, and a safe place to gather.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Reeves and Jimmie Lewis; and her beloved husband, Robert F. Baker Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Robert “Bob” F. Baker Jr. (Angelia) of Bethlehem, North Carolina, and Michael L. Baker (Tara) of Moncks Corner; her six grandchildren, Chelsea Fulton (Tayler), Blake Baker (Erica), Dylan Baker (Jordan), Macyn Baker (Michael), Hannah Martin (Joseph), and Haley Baker (Jase); and her great-grandchildren, Everest, Lachlan, Sierra, Autumn, Emersyn, Sullivan, JJ, Anna, and Bowen.
She is also survived by her two pups, Daisy and Charlie, who brought her great joy and companionship.
Ann—or “Mimi,” as she was lovingly known by her family—often commented on how amazed she was to have become the matriarch of such a large and beautiful family. She loved every member of her tribe fiercely.
Mimi loved shopping, traveling, reading, trips to the movie theater, crafting, and cooking. She will be remembered for her sassiness, brutal honesty, quick wit, and the unmistakable personality that made her Mimi.
Mimi never met a stranger. Her legacy lives on through countless elementary school hallways, ladies’ lunch groups, the family she loved so fiercely, and all the great-grandchildren she was so proud to call hers.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life to honor and remember Ann on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Moncks Corner United Methodist Church. The family asked you wear bright colors to honor Mimi.
