Donald Sterrett, Jr.

Donald Kirk Sterrett, Jr. widower of Joan Bennett Sterrett, passed away February 15, 2019 at the age of 70.

Donald was the son of Donald and Martina Postna Sterrett.

A Veteran of Vietnam, Don served first in the US Marines and then in the US Navy.

He enjoyed mentoring and tutoring through volunteer programs for anyone who needed or wished to receive their GED and to help further their own education.

An avid sports fan, Don’s real enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends. Don touched many lives and will be missed by all.

 Don is now with the love of his life Joan Sterrett, his wife of 40 plus years. There has not been a day that went by that he did not think of and miss her.

Surviving are five children- Marie Gummo and her husband, Ken, of Delafield, Wi; Bob Frierson and his wife, Kathy, of Camden, SC; Ed Frierson of San Diego, Ca,; Tom Frierson and his wife, Bev, of Raligh, NC and Mack Sterrett and his wife, Lisa, of Charleston, SC; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, many extended family member and friends.

His graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Berkeley Memorial Gardens Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 1:30. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel from 12 noon until 1 o’clock.
