Barabara (Kirkpatrick) Wallace

Barbara Kirkpatrick Wallace, 87, of Moncks Corner, widow of Wesley H. Wallace, passed away at her home Friday, August 9, 2019.

Barbara was born October 5, 1931 in Charlotte, NC, a daughter of Murray Kirkpatrick and Gladys King Stone.

Growing up she was the light of her granddaddy’s eye. However, once grown, she stole the heart of Wesley Wallace. They married on July 17, 1954 in Charleston, SC. Barbara organized sewing and craft circles, helping raise money for her church through selling those items each fall at the bazaar. She also stayed busy around her neighborhood making cards with her friends. She built strong relationships with all of the women involved. When not showing her creative side, she really excelled in the kitchen making her famous “sliced potato salad.” Many have tried to duplicate it but few have succeeded. It was always the prized item at family gatherings, many of which were organized by she and her husband because family was so important. Summers were filled with grandkids taking turn spending time with them.

Surviving are two daughters- Debra Peterson and her husband, Jerry, of Moncks Corner; Sheryl Ann Williamson of Greensboro, NC; a sister- Sherry Gaskin and her husband, Ted Burbage; a brother- David Stone and his wife, Darlene; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter- Janice Capps.

Her funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner, Monday morning August 12, 2019 at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel Monday morning from 10 to 11 o’clock.
